What is in this release

New

  • The Management side menu has a search box. Typing shows only the matching pages, opens their sections and marks the matched text; Enter opens the first match and Escape clears the search
  • The Management info panel has a Previous button that goes back to the item you came from after following a link in the panel. Opening an item from the table starts a new history
  • The user panel shows the user's name and email at the top
  • Create group and Edit group warn when members have no active membership in the group's project. They can still be members, but cannot open the group's files until they join the project
  • The Vault's Groups section says why it is empty: you are not in any group, or you do not have the permission to view group folders

Changes

  • Groups are managed from the Groups section of the Vault. A group's menu offers Edit, Rename, Change project, Change owner, Leave group and Delete; the separate group panel and group list are removed
  • Create group and Edit group open one window, laid out like the Share dialog, with the group's project, name and members. A group left without a name is named after its members, a crown marks the owner, and each member can be restricted with "Cannot manage files" or "Cannot manage group", which is saved as that member's group permissions. Members are added to an existing group from Edit
  • In group folders, creating and uploading folders needs the group's Create Directory permission, and members without it are no longer offered either. Before, they were offered both, and the files in an uploaded folder's subfolders were skipped
  • On the Escrow page, "Remove own keys" is now "Remove key parts shared with me". It only shows when another escrow user shared a key part with you, and it keeps your own group's key part
  • On the Escrow page, a user whose key is escrowed but for whom you hold none of your own group's key parts now shows "Missing your group's key part" instead of "User is not escrowed"
  • The Permissions editor lists 21 more permissions in their sections, such as Add users, Vault usage statistics, VM history, external host reservations and messages; permissions marked "future feature, no effect yet" do nothing today
  • Permissions the server has but the web app does not describe yet are named in a notice under the Permissions editor, instead of in a "Discovered from Server" section. Saving keeps them unchanged
  • Table actions, the selected count and "Selected items" exports now cover only the selected rows the filter shows. Hidden rows stay selected and count again once the filter shows them; before, selecting all 500 users and filtering down to 3 ran an action on all 500
  • Right-clicking or dragging a row that is not selected now selects only that row, in the Vault, the VM file list and tables, so the menu or the drop acts on that row only. Before, the row was added to the selection, and in the Vault a right-click with several rows selected acted on the old selection
  • The Vault explorer's shortcuts (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+D, Backspace and A) work only while focus is in the explorer, and Backspace asks before moving the selection to the Trash. Before, they acted on the whole page, so Ctrl+A then Backspace could move every file in the folder to the Trash without asking, and the browser's own Ctrl+A and Ctrl+D did not work
  • Previews of large text and markdown files show the first 16 MiB with a note that only the start of the file is shown, and binary files are recognized from their first 8 KiB. Before, the whole file (up to 1 GiB) was decoded, which could freeze or crash the tab
  • "Transfer ownership", "Access drive key" and "Unshare from everyone else" are offered only when one drive is selected; before, they acted only on the first of several selected drives
  • Deleting a credential in Transfer setup asks for confirmation first, shows errors and allows a retry
  • "Repair corrupted database" is offered only when the VM's controller supports it. Newer VM controllers no longer offer it, because it could delete a VM's persistent data
  • Edit and Add category on a VM annotation template are offered only to users who manage the VM and have the Manage VM access permission, as the server requires
  • "Change image" for hardware setups no longer offers Nutanix images that the setup editor doesn't allow
  • When a VM configuration's hardware setup is changed to one that cannot use its home drive, the home drive is cleared, and extra drives the setup cannot use are flagged. A drive made with "Create new drive" that does not fit the setup is reported instead of selected. Before, such drives were saved and the VM then failed to attach them
  • Slurm partition and device Create, Edit and Delete are offered only to Super-admins, the only role the server accepts them from
  • A Slurm partition whose allowlist exists but is empty is shown as restricted and available to no VM, as the server treats it, instead of "Unrestricted"; its edit form opens as Restricted with nothing selected. The partition panel's "Allowed hardware setups" is now "Allowed VM configurations" and names the VM configurations
  • "Update Fair Share" is no longer offered in Management > Slurm > VM Accounts: the server accepted the request but did not apply it
  • In a team's Quotas, a blank quota means no limit and 0 means none is allowed. Unset quotas show blank instead of 0, and a per-user quota of 0 is kept and shown with its toggle on
  • When editing several project memberships with different roles, expiration dates or restrictions, unticking "Keep ... unchanged" leaves that field empty until you choose a value ("Never expires" removes the expiration)
  • When editing several VM users, a permission is ticked only if all of them have it, a dash marks one only some have, and no role is picked when their roles differ; each user keeps their own unless you pick one
  • The "No changes" button in the user state form is disabled until you pick a different state or deactivation reason
  • When a form offers a single realm and the default realm is not among them, that realm is selected for you
  • Select SFTP server for SFTP bidirectional lists only servers allowlisted for you or one of your teams; Admins and Super-admins no longer see every registered server there, only to be told after Login that it is not allowed
  • Typing, scrolling and moving the pointer now count as activity for the idle lock, not only clicks, so the page no longer locks while you type in a terminal or fill in a long form
  • On the inbox upload page, a file whose upload broke after it was added is renamed "<name>.incomplete" for the recipient

Fixes

  • Required fields on the registration form show one asterisk; before, they showed two because the label included a manual asterisk next to the one Angular Material adds
  • Registration sends every MFA certificate when the deployment requires two or more factors; before, it sent only the last one and the server refused the registration
  • Registration no longer shows a literal "[MFA NAME]" placeholder
  • The registration page's text is reworded. The Multi-factor step explains Link MFA Account, the success screen no longer lists "Checked your multi-factor authenticator" when MFA is not used, and the activation instructions no longer read "you must have ask an administrator"
  • Login IDs and SFTP user names accept hyphens, such as jane@uni-heidelberg.de or svc-backup, and first and last names accept hyphens and periods, such as J. R. or Jean-Luc
  • Delete in a password field removes only the next character; before, at the end of the field it removed the last character like Backspace, and in an empty field it broke later typing
  • Notifications arrive once, not once per login or unlock, and live updates reconnect after a network drop, including on deployments without cookies
  • A failed request is sent again only after a new login, and with the new session secret; before, failed tiCrypt Connect and SFTP inbox requests were sent twice
  • In tiCrypt Connect, closing the multi-factor window before sign-in finishes now shows why, instead of leaving the multi-factor screen waiting with no message
  • In tiCrypt Connect, a failed connection to a local VM or a failed delete is reported instead of hanging or reporting success, and later requests no longer wait forever
  • In tiCrypt Connect, saving a downloaded file no longer blocks the page while it is encoded, and a failed save is reported on the file or fails the task instead of reporting success
  • Cloud drives (Dropbox, Box, SFTP) no longer fail to open with "specified drive does not exist" after tiCrypt Connect reconnects or a new cloud service is added
  • Create Credentials lists only providers that sign in with OAuth; SFTP servers, which are connected from "Connect to SFTP server", no longer open a broken page or spin forever
  • The Create Credentials dialog no longer spins forever after a failed sign-in; it shows "Authentication failed" and goes back to the provider choice. The credentials table is refreshed however the dialog closes
  • Transfer setup re-enables Login and Accept after a failed step, keeps the drive step with an error when mounting or unmounting fails, and shows an error after a failed sign-in. The SFTP server is required
  • Deleting a credential in Transfer setup unmounts only that account's drives, and works when none of them are mounted; before, it unmounted every drive of the provider, or failed and kept the credential
  • Removing your avatar takes effect right away; the old picture used to stay until the page was reloaded
  • A profile picture dropped onto the profile picture dialog is shown, "Reset selected image" works for users without an avatar, and "Delete profile image" is offered only when there is one
  • Identicons no longer show as a broken image while user data loads, or keep the deleted-user icon when reused for another user
  • "Recover User Key" on the Escrow page shows "Key recovery failed" when recovery fails, instead of nothing, and a double click no longer produces key files that cannot be used to log in
  • "Remove key parts shared with me" on the Escrow page deletes the key parts other escrow users shared with you; before, it asked the server to delete the wrong item
  • The "Started (i/n)" status on the Escrow page shows again
  • Refresh on the Escrow page finishes and loads the key sets of users escrowed since the page was opened; before, it could stay on "Refreshing ..." forever
  • Change Password opened from the Escrow page shows "Incorrect password" with the tries left after a wrong password, and its Logout logs out of the Escrow page; Apply and Cancel in Change Password are disabled while the password is being changed
  • Escrow user registration can be finished in the browser: the Review step has a Download button for the certificate request, so the last button no longer stays at "Download both files to continue"
  • Sitekey certificates are sent once: Apply is disabled while they are applied, each turns Pending up front and goes back to Unsent with an error if the chain stops, and the approved icon shows only for approved certificates
  • Uploads work on slow links: each 8 MiB chunk gets enough time at 256 kbit/s (at least 60 seconds), and a chunk that fails with a timeout, network error or server error is sent again up to twice. This applies to the inbox upload page too
  • Uploading no longer reloads the Vault listing and its sharing information for every chunk, and clicking a folder for the first time loads it once instead of three times
  • Adding, removing and renaming entries in folders with 256 or more entries no longer reloads the whole folder each time, and removed entries no longer come back until the next refresh
  • Uploads whose files were all stored no longer end as FAILED when the usage refresh fails, for example in a downgraded session
  • "Delete" in the Trash deletes the selected items in one server request, so a failure no longer leaves some files' content gone while their entries are still listed
  • "Copied ... to ..." and "Permanently deleted N items" show only once the copy or deletion has finished, and a failure is reported as a failure; before, "Copied" showed while the copy confirmation was still open
  • Delete and Rename in the Vault folder tree's menu work; Delete always failed, and Rename failed for inboxes, group folders and the Trash
  • Creating a folder inside a project folder no longer fails with "Failed to create directory" for users without the permission to raise a project tag
  • Transferring a VM or My Computer folder into a Vault folder that already has a folder with the same name uses that folder; before, the whole folder was skipped as "Failed to create directory"
  • The Sharing column shows who files are shared with in Shared By Me and Shared With Me
  • Sharing Vault files with a user or group needs a recipient: Share stays disabled until one is picked
  • The Share dialog changes a file's "shared with" count only when the request succeeds, and sharing with several users or groups ends with one message that names every failure
  • The recursive set, classify and declassify summary enables Accept only once the scan has finished, and shows an error when the scan fails; before, Accept changed nothing and a failed scan spun forever
  • The Vault folder picker keeps open folders open after Vault changes, including after its own "New Folder", and shows its folder icons
  • In the VM directory picker, adding a new directory keeps the tree open with the new directory selected
  • The Vault storage line shows the quota and its progress bar
  • The usage of an "all storage" quota counts Vault files, so team details and user quotas no longer show more free space than there is
  • Deleting an inbox from the Vault reports a failure and stays open for a retry, instead of "Inbox deleted successfully"
  • Create inbox in the Vault's Inboxes opens with My Files selected, and when an inbox cannot be created the message says why
  • An inbox that was created is no longer reported as failed when the Vault cannot refresh afterwards, so retrying no longer creates a second inbox
  • After a failed Create inbox or Create new access point, the Create button works again once the cause is fixed
  • The inbox upload page accepts passwords of up to 64 characters, as long as an inbox owner can set; before, "Enter inbox" did nothing for passwords over 20 characters
  • The inbox upload page shows why logging in failed instead of spinning forever or always saying the password is wrong or the mailbox is expired, and a failed upload always leaves the uploading state; a retried file that succeeds is counted
  • The inbox upload page is published again as version 2.18.2, so new upload folders are named like fred-Fri-Oct-16-2026-11.09.05 and can be transferred to Windows VMs; 2.18.1 changed the name but did not ship the inbox page
  • Closing a file preview during its download no longer shows "Failed to access file" or closes another tab, and a file too large to view no longer keeps downloading
  • Next and previous in a file preview cancel the previous file's download, so the new file and other Vault downloads no longer wait for it
  • Closing a video preview, or moving to another file, stops downloading and decrypting the video
  • Moving the mouse while a video plays no longer slows down the whole app
  • The SHA-256 dialog stops hashing when it is closed, shows an error when hashing fails, and hashes empty files
  • The JSON viewer stays responsive for large tables, and the VM JSON export no longer spins forever on an error
  • Code highlighting in previews follows changed text instead of showing it unhighlighted
  • The markdown editor's Split and View preview follows the text as you type, and Cmd+E switches the panes
  • VM files and folders whose name contains "|" can be opened, renamed, deleted and previewed, and renamed, moved and deleted symlinks are updated in the VM file tree
  • Drives mounted or unmounted in a VM, and attached RAM or NFS drives, show in the VM's directory tree right away
  • Exporting a file into a Windows VM or tiCrypt Connect folder that holds the same name in another letter case picks a free name instead of failing
  • Dropping files on a target that shows an error does nothing; before, the transfer armed just before ran, and the next drag over the same place could be ignored
  • A terminal whose connection to the VM was lost now says so and reconnects when you press a key or when the VM connection is back, instead of ignoring what you type
  • Opening or reconnecting a terminal no longer types stray characters such as "0;276;0c" onto the command line
  • The Terminal Hub starts one terminal when it opens for a VM that has none, instead of sometimes two, and a closed tab releases its terminal so the welcome tab comes back
  • The terminal background matches the area around it, with no band of another color
  • Reopening an overlay tab with another page, VM or mode shows what was asked for: each help search result opens its own page, "Open terminal" opens the hub of that VM, and an elevated file transfer no longer reopens a normal one, or the reverse
  • A restored user panel tab stays on the view it was on, and opening the user panel no longer loads data it does not show
  • The user panel's tables (Teams, Projects, Certifications, Drives, Running VMs and VM Configurations) read only lists the viewer may read, so they no longer fail with permission errors, and a tab shows only when its table can be shown
  • The Project column of the user panel's VM Configurations table shows the project
  • Refresh in the user panel's Groups tab reloads the groups
  • Shutdown and Restart check the permission before closing your terminals and transfers, and VM owners pass the check
  • The Power action of a VM configuration opens the shutdown dialog when the configuration is Suspended, Starting or shows "No Connection" because its VM controller is unreachable, and the "No Connection" button opens the same dialog
  • The Configuration ID of a running VM can be copied: Management > VM Configurations has a Configuration ID column, and the admin VM panel shows it under VM config. Before, only stopped configurations showed it
  • Starting a VM attaches its data drives when its hardware setup lists an NFS drive that was deleted; the missing NFS drive is reported instead of stopping the start
  • With "Add drive(s) to the VM configuration" checked, drives are attached even when recording them in the configuration fails, and the failure is shown
  • Confirming "Detach drive" reports a failed unmount or detach and stays open, instead of saying the drive was detached
  • Drives shared with you stay in your drive list after the periodic refresh of all drives, so they can still be attached or picked for a VM
  • Mounting or formatting a drive on a Windows VM with a SCSI disk bus uses the right device for users without access to the VM image
  • Users viewing a drive shared with them see the number of people it is shared with, instead of a "could not be loaded" message; only the owner and administrators see who
  • A drive's edit form no longer counts its VM again each time it is opened ("attached to 2 VMs", then 3)
  • Drives created on non-Libvirt realms can be edited; Update stayed disabled because a hidden backup preference was required
  • In a drive's Share dialog you can choose Read-only or Full access for a new share again; every new share was read-only. A user without a key to the drive is told so
  • Import drive sends one request when Import is clicked twice, so a double click no longer makes two drives on one file; failures say why
  • Repair permissions works for access directories on VMs that use them
  • Access directories load on a VM whose home drive is not attached yet
  • Generated RDP files use the System Settings > VMs > Windows VM Domain setting for Windows VMs
  • After Reset Connection, the app instructions show and copy the new password, and resetting a constellation worker resets that worker's tunnel instead of the head VM's
  • The VM Drives panel shows the drives when drive usage cannot be loaded, and no longer stays blank or shows a table for a disconnected VM
  • The VM panel's hardware summary shows the current VM after switching from another VM
  • VM panels that show the connected VM's owner keep updating when the owner is not in the user list, such as VM-owned VMs and deleted owners
  • The VM users, groups, access directory, ACL template and Slurm job panels keep their rows and selection when the VM status updates
  • The VM settings panel closes with a message when its VM has stopped or its owner is unknown, instead of failing to open
  • VM stats come back after the VM connection drops, and stop being collected once no VM panel shows them
  • Connecting to an unreachable VM no longer leaves a connection open on each retry, and a connection that closes during setup is no longer reported as connected
  • The VM logs search no longer shows "VM not found" every 5 seconds, and stops loading more logs once all are loaded or the panel closes
  • VM logs wrap long lines instead of giving every cell its own scrollbar, and Refresh is an icon in the title bar
  • The VM's Slurm Jobs table lists jobs whose account is not a VM user, such as root
  • Adding users to a VM reports every failure and keeps the form usable, adds them once on a double click, and offers manager and co-owner roles to the VM's owner and managers, as the server allows
  • The "Add N and remove M" task for VM group membership finishes only when the VM has made the change, and reports the VM's error
  • "Edit membership" of a VM group opens again when the group still lists a user who was removed from the VM, and saving keeps that user in the group
  • "Update membership" without any change now says "No changes made" instead of doing nothing
  • Editing the access of several VM users at once no longer gives all of them the first user's role and permissions; Save changes only what you change
  • Editing VM profiles keeps your ticks when the profiles refresh while you edit, and Cancel no longer makes unsaved changes look applied
  • Hardware setup scripts, extra XML and VM controller settings save with any character, such as smart quotes, dashes, emoji or CJK text, and accented text is stored correctly
  • The VM controller settings form saves only fields that hold a value, keeps settings it does not show, and opens for setups without settings
  • Changing a hardware setup's realm drops the device counts of the previous realm, so a GPU count no longer stays hidden in the setup and stops it from starting
  • Editing a VM hardware setup shows its image, even when the image's volume is not listed, instead of a blank field with only an X
  • Team, user and NFS drive lists in forms show deleted or hidden entries by name instead of as blank rows
  • Bulk "Replace instructions" accepts URLs, paths and colons, as the single setup editor does
  • The VM configuration editor and Attach drives mark the drive rows that really share a slot as "Not unique", and keep checking the rows after a drive that is not loaded
  • The VM configuration editor shows the error under the home drive field when no home drive is selected
  • Closing a VM configuration or access directory form with Esc while it saves no longer closes another dialog opened in the meantime
  • Closing a dialog with Esc or a click outside it no longer leaves the dialog beneath it stuck open with its form disabled, and Cancel in a save confirmation no longer also closes the dialog beneath it
  • Typed confirmations name the text to type, such as a drive name or "Repair", instead of always "Confirm", and only destructive confirmations show a warning
  • The "n" shortcut in Management runs the Create action of the table shown, and only while focus is in the table
  • A table's refresh spinner keeps spinning until the table's data has arrived
  • Selecting rows in a table that refreshes often, with many rows selected, no longer freezes the page or makes the selection flicker
  • Selecting a "No Team Assigned" or "No Project Assigned" summary row with other rows no longer hides the actions or passes an empty item to them
  • Opening the details of an item in Management no longer reloads the whole list it came from, for lists such as hardware profiles, Libvirt hosts and roles
  • Items deleted elsewhere disappear from lists and their open panels
  • Refreshing Past VMs or Running VMs no longer asks the server for every drive or VM configuration, which made each realm scan its drive pool
  • The "No Project" option of the Project column filter finds rows without a project, including in the Groups table
  • Custom choice columns on Projects and Teams can be filtered by their value; before, any value hid every row
  • The Projects table keeps its Managers and Members columns when the project custom fields update
  • The Audit Logs CSV and Excel exports include the argument columns
  • In All Drives, the Shares column sorts as numbers and the "Drive sizes" chart shows the drives' capacity; Groups exports list the Group column once; the user resources chart is titled "Total disk space"
  • The group selector shows each group's project
  • Copied values in System Settings History are valid JSON, and its XSS Headers, Copy Settings, Admin Session Downgrade and Track Drive Backup entries show their names
  • A system setting stays marked unsaved, with its save bar, until the server accepts it, and the Windows VM Domain setting applies to the session only once saved
  • The Terms of Service and CUI text editors, list fields, and rank, role and project choices are locked while their form saves, like the other fields, so edits made meanwhile are no longer lost
  • An empty optional duration, such as a project membership's "Expiration (Optional)", shows empty instead of "0 years", and size fields show GB or TB
  • The timestamp input shows the form's value, and hours past 24
  • Removing a chip from a multiple selector updates the form, so a required list with every chip removed is no longer valid
  • Drive fields in forms stop looking focused once you leave them
  • Information messages appear in the message history
  • Task durations are right for long tasks and in hidden or minimized windows, and the task tray shows durations over 12 hours correctly
  • Management has a help button again that opens the documentation for the page shown, and the help links of Groups, Slurm Partition Assignments, ISO Volumes, System Settings History and the Virtual Machines pages open the right pages
  • The help search, and the Documentation and Useful pages links in the main search, open pages that exist on ticrypt.com
  • Name conflict errors for SFTP servers and NFS drives, and API key creation messages, no longer mention a "security level", and several typos are corrected
  • Deleting an External SFTP server asks "Delete <name>?" instead of "Delete Delete <name>??"
  • The custom field dialog names teams or projects, or says "Edit custom field" when editing, and the constellation "Stop all" task is no longer titled "Start ..."
  • The delete user dialog says that the account can be restored from Deleted Users until the retention period ends, and that the user's files, drives and VMs are not deleted
  • The "URL" format rule of a text custom field can be chosen and is applied
  • Editing an external SFTP server no longer removes the projects allowed to use it, and saving without changes says "No changes made"
  • Unticking "Keep ... unchanged" when editing several project memberships no longer applies "Regular member", no expiration and "No restrictions" on Save, and "Keep restrictions unchanged" no longer resets every selected member to "No restrictions"
  • Clicking "No changes" in the user state form no longer sends an empty state update to every selected user
  • Realm fields no longer pick a realm they do not list, so a Nutanix hardware profile can no longer be created in the Libvirt default realm by mistake
  • Saving a team's Quotas without cores or memory quotas no longer stores 0, which blocked every VM start in the team, and a device without a team quota no longer blocks VM starts
  • The certification form keeps an onboarding template's saved choice for existing certifications, and defaults to "skip" for admins who may not modify certifications
  • "Remove disable restriction" works for a restriction whose date has passed
  • The delete user dialog loads the user's teams and drives before Delete user is enabled, so the warning about drives they still own shows
  • Adding child projects to an onboarding template keeps the settings of parent projects already in it
  • Onboarding creates each home drive in the realm of the VM configuration's hardware setup, and onboards five users at a time
  • The onboarding VM template checks the home drive's format and capacity against the selected hardware setup, shows drive name errors, and no longer saves an unchanged template
  • The "Manage users" and "Add to team(s)" dialogs fill their grids once the lists have loaded, so existing members are no longer offered as candidates
  • The drive owner picked in "Create a drive upload configuration" is saved, "Clear selection" no longer submits the form, and "Cut-and-paste config" reports a failed copy
  • Clearing the backend location of a Libvirt pool is saved
  • NFS drives can be saved with slot "Auto"
  • Avicenna transfers can be saved without survey IDs, for device-only transfers
  • Avicenna exports use a transfer's edited study ID and API key
  • Nutanix hardware profiles save the chosen GPU vendor, and canceling an edit no longer changes the profile's devices
  • The host utilization Devices column counts the devices VMs use instead of always showing "0/N"
  • The Libvirt Hosts "Node Memory" column shows memory against the node's maximum instead of "0% of ∞"
  • Hardware setup deletion reports a failed deletion, and says when the impact could not be computed instead of "No dependencies found"
  • Slurm job Cancel and Stop report failures, and the jobs table drops cancelled jobs right away
  • Slurm job times under an hour show as minutes and seconds instead of hours and minutes
  • Slurm past jobs show memory in M and T units and with decimals
